Hello, I'm Jo, an Artist, Illustrator and Author and welcome to my site.

My art is beautiful, bold and colourful, it comes from the heart and my deep love of animals and nature.

My friend Lisa went to a turtle rescue centre, in Thailand, and sent me this image of this turtle. Well, I was smitten, there is something about these wonderful, almost prehistoric, animals that tugs at the heart strings. Painted in gouache, pen and ink, on Two Rivers hand made paper.

The colours on this African bird are stunning. I was a bit stuck for inspiration so I asked on Instagram for help. I was instantly smitten when the LBR was suggested. Painted in gouache, pen and ink on Two Rivers hand made paper.

This little tribute to these gorgeous little creatures, is a tongue in cheek laugh at the way the Ladies call the shots. There is a little poem woven in gold, in the leaves which reads:
The beauty of the Seahorse,
Is the ladies, full of mirth,
Laugh all the way through mating,
Knowing the men will suffer birth.

This painting captures a moment in this tiny bird's frenetic life. Humming birds are like the tiny jewels in the bird world, stunning and breath takingly beautiful.

As you will have guessed by now, I love bright colours! BUT I also love the wonderful patterns the more dull feather colours create, when you look closely. The brown really stands out on this beautiful turquoise blue background.
